About
Laura Millar is an Ohio-based performer-composer.
As a freelance artist, Laura plays trumpet in a variety of settings. She is also an avid composer, writing music for solo trumpet (often with electronics), trumpet ensemble, and brass band. Her performing and compositional style is ambient-inspired: slow, melodic, and highly expressive.
Her hope is that her music brings people whatever it is they need in the moment. She is also working to break the stereotype that trumpet music of value must be louder-higher-faster, one slow and emotive note at a time.
Laura’s compositions include completely improvised trumpet solos over electronic soundscapes, notated solos with electronics, and ambient-inspired trumpet and flugelhorn ensembles.
